    CEL flashes at 5k+ rpm

Soooo, yesterday I wanted to rev the car a bit getting on the freeway, and at about 5.5k rpm the check engine light flickered for a moment - and immediately stopped. I tried the same again, and it flickered again.

Is it an electrical issue? Sensor issue? Something else?

I've done some searching, but nothing really useful, knock sensor or misfire but in either case, why only at high rpm?

I recently replaced the fuel injectors and intake manifold (and TB) gaskets. Could this be tied to the CEL flashing in any way?

    Halp r3v!

Which light? Your car might be fuel-starved at high rpm. Tee in a fuel pressure gauge to see what might be happening at that rpm.

What do you mean by which light? The "Check Engine Light" is what I've meant. I've changed the fuel pump recently and the pressure was exactly what it's supposed to be (checked after installation). Haven't checked at 5k rpm obviously.

I'll try that next time I'm at the shop, thanks.

      Any other ideas perhaps?

People are often confused between the actual CEL and the check light in the center of the cluster and that was why I asked. Did you do a stomp test?

Ooooh, okay =) No, it was definitely the CEL. Will do the stomp test today.

The code i got was 1231, Battery Voltage / DME Relay Monitor
Where do you think I should start? I just changed the alternator to engine block ground. I can't find the one above the brake pedal (stuck my head in there for a good 30min). And cant find the long ground cable position - i think it goes from the starter to alternator?

And last time I checked the battery was charging at 13.9 when engine on, stood at 12 when off. Also the cables around the battery are new.
Also, there is no battery drain.

Could the DME relay be failing? Would the DME even work like this? because I do have an erratic idle, which persists even after extensive work on the engine (to find the culprit).

Anyhow, is there anyone in the bay area who has a working 173 ECU which I could swap in and test? Beer is on me =D
