    Super Eta identification

My car is supposed to be an '87 325(no e) which should make it a regular eta. I was looking through the owners manual yesterday, and it listed the horsepower at 127 and the compression at 8.5:1. I believe that these are the super eta specs. I had a look at the build date which is 06/87. This strikes me as a little early to be an '88 model, but not by much. I don't know how BMW handles model year separation, but I believe that generally the new cars come out during the summer. Is there any way to tell if what I have is an eta or a super eta with out taking the engine apart?

Whoops, I did not realize this section was for engine swaps.

Where's the tach go to? Is redline starting at 5500?

Look on the head, I think between the 1st and 2nd spark plug holes - it's there a 2.5 stamped on the head's casting?

Redline is at 4700, tach only goes to 5000. I will look at the head tomorrow.

Sounds like it's a normal Eta then.

What does it take to make the Super Eta a stroker? Doesnt it take less than a regular ETA?

What has to be changed to make a eta a super eta?

                The pistons and head, mainly.

It'd be a pointless conversion. You might as well do a full out stroker if you change pistons.

To make a SuperEta a stroker, all you need is an I ECU and topend.

not really, you need, 'i' ecu, dual valve springs, 'i' camshaft, 'i' intake manifold, 'i' throttle body.

                      lol

To make a normal Eta a SuperEta you'd have to change the pistons on your bottom end. For that, you may as well make a stroker with custom pistons.

I ahve SuperEta pistons and rods for sale if anyone is interested?
