    question reguarding oil level sensor.

My 1988 325ix was in a front end collision and damaged the wire which is run through the plastic cover on the front of the engine parallel to the crank sensor wire...

This wire then connects to two sensors on the bottom of the engine (oil level/pressure sensors??). I would like to delete these sensors entirely. They are for the active check control and not the motronic computer, correct? Can anyone tell me how to completely bypass these sensors?

you dont want to eliminate the oil pressure sender (its for the light in the cluster BTW ) if you have low engine oil pressure you want to know that for sure!!!

bypassing the oil level sender might be tricky ,as seen its a two part switch that one is open (dynamic)circuit the other is closed (static )but it has a resistor you would have to substitute to keep the light off ,so if your keeping the check panel and want the oil level lamp to stay off ground the dynamic blu/yel wire with the correct resistor (measure the sensor to determine correct resistance blu/wht to brn/org terminals with switch out and held upsidedown so float is at top)and and ground the static blu/wht straight to a good ground point.

Ok thank you... I don't need either switch at this point. Nor do I mind if the lights are on. Been going at it with my car over a rich run/cutting out problem after hitting a deer... really been looking at what was phyiscally damaged.. appears these sensors' wires look a beating.. concerned it's shorting or somehow effecting the crank sensor.
