    Dumb m20 oil filter question

    Hey All,
I ordered a box of parts to do an oil change and other maintenance, and instead of an oil filter, I was shipped a fuel filter. I discovered this after draining my old oil, so I just finished the job without replacing the filter.

I got a new filter now, would it be dumb/inadvisable if I were to just unscrew the old one and put the new one on without draining my (still fresh) oil?

Most of the oil is below the filter, but you will lose some. Just add back some oil and check the dip-stick.

Next time make sure you have all the right parts and tools before you start the job :) :)
People drained their transmission oil and found they can't open the fill plug :)
