    M20 Dancing Starter Riddle

So I am searching around my Bentley book & the internet yet still lost as to what it could be. My issue stems from the fact that I did an engine swap & my starter pinion engages when turning the ignition, but not the starter motor.

Just a click noise. Now if I happen to try & start the car from the disagnostic port, pins 11 & 14...the starter motor & pinion move as I hear both, but that motor is just spinning and spinning.

I'm partially thinking a wire issue, since I'm getting both results from the port & not from the ignition.

Anyone able to chime in would be great.

    Thanks

Battery voltage starts in the high 11's; low 12.50's & works its way up to 13v being connected in the car.
