    Alternator belt issues.

Good morning yall. I need some help, my car is going thru belts. In past 3 months I've had to replace the belt 4 time, twice by me and twice by a mechanic. The problem is the belt is installed tight and correctly however for the first couple weeks not a single problem or squeal. After which it the starts to squeal and get progressingly worse which cause everything to dip in power. The squelling is worse in cold as it has been in ohio or when the fan is on. The noise is coming from the fan area I believe. The confusion is it doesn't always squeal.

how freely does your alternator turn? maybe alternator bearing is seizing up?

I don't think it's the alternator since I have installed a new when the belt broke last time. I'm truly confused because it also has a new adjuster rail and the belt is at proper tension.

After a new belt breaks in you need to re-tension it. It loosens up.

I want to say thank you that actually fixed it. I also want to give yall complete permission to call me a blithering idiot. I had no clue that you need to re-adjust the belt after i installed. I feel so dumb -_-
