New help ASAP with m20 please

Hi I have a '87 vert with m20. I drove it Monday then parked it in the afternoon. Next day I went to start and it just keeps cranking and won't start. Car had gas, all wires plugged in but I have been hearing a vibration from my fuel pump could that be the issue? The inline fuel pump. I also suspect maybe the timing belt ripped but I don't really think so because the car was parked

If you heard noises from the pump, that would be the place to start. Check fuel pressure. Try jumping the fuel pump relay to see if the pumps kick on. Could also be a clogged filter, but the symptoms usually progress before complete shut down.

Could be other things not fuel related... crank sensor, ecu, fuel pump relay, main relay, etc.

Many threads on this exact same topic. I've even started one or two of them.

2 weeks before this if the car is a little less than a quarter tank it would shut if when I put it in drive and now I don't hear it pressurizing when I put the key on

Highly doubt its your timing belt. you can take the oil cap off and look inside to make sure the cam is moving. As stated there are many things that can cause a no start but nearly all of those things can be found with a multimeter and understanding of wire diagrams. If you suspect the fuel pump first check to see if you have 12v going to it. If so pull the fuel feed line and verify pump is putting out. Filters fail slowly over time. Sure its not the fuel filter.

Thanks. I checked and the cam was turning. I'm starting to think its the piston rings. Also can someone tell me what this is? I here it buzzing when the key is on

How about we check for fuel and spark before we come up with these silly assumptions? Do you know how to use a multimeter and wire diagrams. If you don't or can learn how seek professional help.

You definitely have to do the fuel pressure and delivery tests from the Bentley manual to properly diagnose what's going on.

                Otherwise, we're all just guessing.

A fuel pressure gauge test set can be had for somewhere around $50. Mine has proven to be invaluable with a fleet of 80's cars.
