fuel pressure regulator issue when warm engine?

    hi all,
i'm having driving issues on my '91 325ic. Changed all fuel/air filters, plugs, wires etc. Car starts fine and idles smooth. After the car starts to get to operating temp it starts to surge badly and almost gets to the point of cutting out. (i stopped car before it got any worse) I've checked the wires and plugs and that all seems ok.

Been reading about the fuel pressure regulator. Would it make sense for that to run OK while cold, but then warm start to bog down?

I dont have a way to check pressure but have a near by junk yard. Can I grab a FPR off any other year or make bmws? They don't have any e30's but have some e28, e36, e46. I figure that should be cheaper to help try and trouble shoot before throwing money at random new parts.

    Thanks for the help.

    problem

Sounds like your running rich and perhaps all you need to do is clean the MAF sensor. I'm not a pro but it's a cheap easy thing to do. If it's the FPR I'd buy new if you're going to take the time to replace the old one. Don't cost much.

If you need a used FPR I have one you can have. Bosch # 0 280 160 249 off my 1991 325ix. Upon receiving it just send me a check for shipping. Let me know if you are interested.

thanks Jim1, i'll let you know. Where in Wisconsin are you? I got a coolant temp sensor, gonna try that out to see if it might be that. Only $16 part so I figured why not.

          fpr

I'm in Grafton/Port Washington. My son lives in Sun Prairie. I was there last week and could have dropped this off for you if I had known. Anyways, Go Badgers on to the final four baby.
