86 325es Strong Fuel Smell at Full Throttle

So I hope I'm posting this in the right place and that I'm following the rules of posting. This is my first post. I just picked up an 1986 325es for cheap. The odometer is frozen at 262777 but the engine as far as I can tell still runs very strong. No pinging no knocking no unusual exhaust smoke. (Only black smoke puffs when hitting Rev limiter). My only real concern is that when I have it running hard at full throttle I have a strong gas smell from the exhaust. I've also noticed that inside the throttle body it looks like there is a little bit of gas build up, brown black almost tar looking but much thinner consistency. Also noticed it around the throttle plate in the intake manifold. The only other problem seems to be my temp gauge rides at the 3/4 temp marker a lot of the time but if I turn it off and on it goes back to normal levels. Also the gas gauge seems a little funky (fluctuates while drive, probably just a bad sender unit) I'm getting ready to take it in for emissions and don't want any surprises. I really could just be being paranoid. But I wanted some more input from someone with more knowledge of e30s than me. This is my first one. Thanks for the help.

What is the best way to check the injectors? I'm assuming you're talking about vaccume hoses and as far as I can tell they don't seem the be brittle or cracked anywhere as far as I have tracked them.

Black smoke usually means you're running rich.
