    m20b23 head into m20b27 block

I have a m20b23 cylinder head that I am wanting to put onto my m20b27 (87 325) engine. Anyone know where I can get the specs on the head and such, or any good tips I should be aware of? If I replace the ECU to raise the redline so that I can take advantage of the higher e30 323i redline, will that be OK as far as the bottom end is concerned? TIA........

What specs are you looking for? Its basically an eta head with ports close to i size. Valves are eta sized, combustion chambers are eta. Cam is said to be 264 degrees and valve springs are single, but stiffer than eta.

I wouldnt worry too much about the bottom end. I run a modded eta head with my stock 2.7 bottom end (very high milage) with no problems to 6500. Get 325i harness, sensors, intake and ecu. I am actually planning to stick a 731 323i head onto my bottom end shortly.

      thanks

Found the specs I was looking for, thanks. Do you know where I could find out the lift and duration of the "e" and "i" cams?

Regarding the 323i head, I was told it has larger porting and a 264 cam. One problem I have is that the 323i combustion chamber is 79.98mm while the e and 325i is 83.98, hopefully I can just have the head machined to fix that.....I am planning to upgrade the springs to stiffer dual springs and go to the super eta valves .

If the combustions chamber is actually that size, id keep it. It will only bump up the CR slightly. As for the valves, the super eta valves are larger than the valves in the 323 head, so you will have to have a machine shop enlarge the seat to make those valves work.
