M20 swap, gets fuel, no spark?

We are doing a swap in a e21, the first motir we got our hands on happened to be a m20b27 from a 85.
It came from a driving car that we bought.

We got the motor in and it turns over but it's not getting spark. Fuel sprays fine. New cps and ref sensors and they read out properly
We tested
- voltage supply to dme
- main grounds
-engine speed sensor
- reference sensor
All at the harness that plugs in the the dme
All tested fine
Coil tested fine
Ecu is checked and functional
We tried swapping the cps and the ref sensors with no luck
Any ideas

lolololol you are having the same issue i am currently with my eta motor..

do you have 12v to the positive terminal of the coil with the key on, engine off??? start there.

Yep 12 volts, I also have a e30 eta that I have been checking omphs and volts and everything is checking out the same

Well you are farther than I am..

where did you check the spark? at the spark plug leads? or at the coil lead?

no spark from coil, im no getting the pulsing positive from the POS lead either

It's supposed to be a constant 12v at the coil and the ground is pulsed by the ecu

its gotta be your CPS sensor at the front of the motor.. that is the main ref for the spark timing..
