guys, when my eta sits in the blazing hot sun she gives me a hard time starting. cranks strong but takes a while to catch. once started she's fine and only happens when she's cold but sitting in the hot sun. she's black so i know she's hot under the hood. i have a cold air intake, could that have something to do with it? sucking in that hot air?

Is it hot enough to trick the temp sensor into thinking the engine is up to temp? That may not be that difficult to do if the car is black and parked in the sun. Its gets hot under the hood just sitting in a parking lot. Maybe its trying to start without any cold enrichment (read no choke) and the engine just isn't warm enough. Just a theory.sigpic

I have had this problem with my brother's 87 325es when I bought it. The car would run great during the winter and summer nights, but if parked in the sun or if it was above 75° outside the car would not start. The problem was with the ECU. Swapped ECU's with my 86 325es and my 86 325es had the no start when warm problem, my brothers 87 325es starts fine. I ended up throwing the old ECU in the trash and have been problem free since then.
