    Headers? Yes/no

Helping a friend with an E30 325i build. It is an 89 325i coupe. The car will be built as both (sometimes) street car and primarily a track days car. The engine is stone stock.

Although I think I know the answer, I want to share input with him about long tube headers. They are the cheap sort from e-bay. Front header has longer tubes than the rear header, and it came with an X collector.

Compared to stock manifolds and downpipes into a 2.5" single exhaust, will the headers help, hurt, or have no effect?

The headers, are they individual flanges or are they full flanges? Also many eBay headers say they are long tube when they are actually mid tube design.

Individual. AND ------ they were poorly jigged up when they were welded. They would have to be machined to not leak. Pretty sure they are this --- http://www.ebay.com/itm/84-91-BMW-32...c0a2c1&vxp=mtr

i love in the main picture they have of the whole thing together, that half of the header is way off from being in line.. i have ones similar, i had to cut/notch/bend the x-pipe part of it so it would actually match up.. and its still garbage.. if i were you or your friend just use the 2 piece header and get a collector/x-pipe built properly with an o2 sensor bung welded in.

it helps at top end rpm power only.. little to no power change in low rpm..
