my abs doesn't light up on the dash at all and maybe this is part of the problem.

The ABS light only comes on for a short period at startup and then turns off unless there is something wrong. If it doesn't come on at all, the bulb is bad.

To further note on AndrewBird- if your ABS light stays on and you have all your sensors still in tact- search for the thread on fixing the fusible link in the ABS relay. Usually the problem after a jump start.
