M20B27 Running CRAZY Rich With Lopey Idle

Okay so I know its been covered somewhat before but it seems like my exact symptoms haven't been. So I recently bought a 1985 325e that had been sitting for over a year after the PO said it had started to misfire. I did a compression test before purchasing it and all checked out perfect. I replaced the following:

    Plugs (w/NGK ZGR5A)
    Bosch Plug wires
    Fuel Filter
    Coil
    Cap
    Rotor
Drained gas tank and put in 89 Octane

*Still need to do all fluid etc. Just wanted to fire her up and see if I could get it to run smoothly, my dad is an auto mechanic so we were gonna do a full service at his shop if we could get it there*

*It is also straight pipped off the cats out the driver side so that contributes to the loudness you hear in the video*

After jumping it, it would not hold an idle so I had to give it minimal gas to keep it going, it was clearly running extremely rich (black smoke/sound) and it also was very lopey like it was cammed. I've basically have seen on r3v that its most likely the AFM, or the Coolant temp senor. But I figured Id post up a thread and include a video to show just to make sure before I go out and buy parts. Thanks in advance.

Are you planning on keeping the exhaust like that or would you be building a system eventually?

As long as I don't get pulled over every 5 minutes I'm gonna keep it until I get the extra cash for an actual cat back

Kinda sounds like it isn't running on all cylinders. What do the plugs look like after running a bit?

I will pull the plugs in a few minutes, got bored this morning and pulled the ICV off and cleaned it out with some carb spray, I know this wont fix my problem, but it'll help when its running properly.

I did get around to removing the cover of the AFM to do the common rejuvenation of the resistor strip contacts and heres what I was greeted with.....This is definitely contributing to a bad air/fuel ratio

              [IMG][/IMG]

Everything is covered in corrosion...Time to start searching for a new AFM I guess

Got the new Coolant temp sensor installed, and ordered a used AFM from eBay which will be here tomorrow. Plan on doing the rejuvenation process on the new AFM and giving it a try.

check the fuel pressure regulator and do an ohm reading on the coolant temp sensor. those would be causing it to run crazy rich

Finally got to updating. Got a new AFM from eBay super cheap and figured it was worth a shot. Turned out to be in amazing condition. Pulled it apart and did the usual rejuvenation process (Moved wiper arm to new resistor track and soldered wire to both electrical contacts. :D

First picture shows the comparison of the old AFM to the used one off eBay

Next picture shows after the rejuvenation process

Reinstalled the AFM and fired it up. Running 1000x better. Thanks for everyone's input! I already love R3V!
