    Cruise Control cable DIY repair

I recently broke the plastic clip that holds the CC cable to the bracket.
zip tied it and it worked but it looked really sketchy and did not like
the whole idea of my cruise being held on by them.

So, I decided to make a metal 'fix' for it. two stainless steel pieces, 2.5" x
0.80" with three holes drilled in them. then the middle hole was slotted down in
one direction to slide it over the cable. then a m8 washer was slotted as
well. washer goes between cable metal end and the bracket. then the metal pieces
over each side of the bracket and cable. and bolts go through the outside holes
to hold everything in place right.

feels really nice and tight and keeps the cable at the right angle. i could
spend a bit more time and make it look a lot better but this is good for a first prototype

haven't driven it yet but it looks way better than the zip ties and they worked

Why not just buy a new(used) cable? Seems like a lot of effort put into band-aiding something that could be replaced easily and cheaply. Even a brand new cable is under $30.

well this was free. took like 15 mins of work.

definitely not a band-aid style repair. feels much more solid than any
plastic clip on anything i have dealt with so far.

but to each his own and i did not know they were that kind of price.
