    Need e30 Gurus (Injection Problem)

    Background:
    87 325ic that I recently dropped a new m20 into from donor car. (87 325i sedan)

    Problem:
    Cannot get Injectors to fire

    Facts:
    • Constant Power to All Injectors
    • No Pulse From DME
    • New Crank Position Sensor
    • Cannot Fire Injectors by Grounding Either Injector Bay From DME Connector
    • 7 wires from injector harness and ONLY 6 Female slots from engine harness**

I believe it has to do with only 6 of 7 wires being connected between the engine harness and injector harness. Compared to an 88 IX i see 7 and 7 but I don't know if this has to do with late model.

I'm guessing this is why it isn't possible to fire injectors by grounding out from DME but then again, because there are two bays, there are probably two separate grounds running to the injectors no? Any help is much appreciated.

Was the DME in the donor car the same as the destination car?
You can get great info off the Electrical Trouble Shooting Manual in the DIY section of this forum. You may need to compare two wiring diagrams to see what the difference is.
Did you connect the CPS to the right spot?
Do you have proper air clearance at the CPS? Did you test the CPS to be sure it's within spec?
How are your grounds? If you make temporary grounds by using jumper cables is anything different?
