Difference in starters in 325e vs. 325i ?

The 325e starting up sounds much different than the 325i starting up.

It sounds, more beefy, for lack of a better term. Does anyone know why they sound different? IMO, I think the e sounds better

according to realoem, all m20 e30's share the same starters. Even 320s and 323s

the e sounds quieter and the i sound louder.
i noticed after i went from a e to i starter.
