1986 325 idles at about 2000 rpm in neutral and park and idels normal in drive but want to accelerate on its own and then when up to speed drops super super slow. Help!
There's two steel braided cables going to the lever on the throttle body that controls the butterfly valve. One is from your accelerator pedal, the other is from the cruise control unit. You can figure out which one is the cruise control cable because you can trace it to it - the cruise control is by the passenger side front fender. The reason I said you could try disconnecting it is in case your cruise control is acting up and opening your throttle. To disconnect the cable, you want to do it at the throttle body side, it's basically a plastic clip that you pinch with your fingers to get it out of the metal lever.
