M20b25 and I'm pretty sure the rod bearings are bad. I'm on the good ol college budget and was curious of the cheapest way to replace the bearings? Possibly without an engine hoist and stand? Do I need to replace the connecting rod bolts as well?

This can be done with the engine in the car. The two challenges you'll face will be getting the oil pan off and measuring the rod journals (to a tenth). Rod bearings come in two "colors" and to provide the correct clearance you have to know what the diameter is and then match that up with the data in the Bentley manual. You will need new connecting rods bolts as they are torque to yield and thus one time use.
Be sure to check the journals for any out of round condition.
Getting the pan off has been covered many times, try a search. The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
