Starter turns but doesnt crank engine! Advice needed!

OK so this is the second starter i have to try and start this car. I have a 1987 325e with an e motor but with the single mass conversion kit. The kit is not for crank sensors but i welded a timing mark onto it in the exact spot perfectly. Anyway, my first starter, the late model one, would turn and crank the car. Then 1 week later it was just spinning and not contacting the flywheel! So i went ahead and got the early model starter( the larger massive one) and tried it and this one does the same! I have 9 teeth on this second one and 10 on the first if it helps! Now it just clicks but im going to charge the battery back up before i give it another shot as it is at 11.6v. Anyone have any advice or have any experience with this flywheel conversion kit?

If it clicks I assume the solenoid works? Prob not enough oomph in the motor or bad battery? I'd make sure there isn't a bad chassis ground somewhere.
Ma che cazzo state dicendo? :|

If it it seems like it works you probably have your starter connected wrong switch the wires

Okay I charged the battery and it works now! It just sounded weird to me because the valve adjustment was way off and one valve was being slightly stuck open! Thanks
