the craftsman tool set is great advice. i remember when i first started the most frustrating part was not having the right tools at the time i needed them the most. another helpful tip that helped me a ton was using pb blaster on bolts. it makes the job a whole lot easier and less stressful even though it does not always work. also if you have space at home and find a cheap e30 on craigslist (400-500$) buy it and learn from the parts car. if you mess something up you're not stuck without a car and learn from it. you can always sell the parts online and make that money back. the worst job i did on my car was the rear subframe bushings. but after i finished the car felt a million times better and the accomplishment of fixing your own car just makes owning your car a whole lot more special. Nice vert btw.

I would pay the shop to install the steering knuckle coupler.

A lot of times the knuckle is very stuck to the splines of the steering column and steering rack.
