    M20 carnage

So I was cruising home from work the other day and heard a god awful noise coming from the engine, then saw smoke out the pipe. Pulled over, towed the car home and tore it apart. Looks like my 2002 needs a new engine!

Dropped a valve, piston exploded, con rod bent like a pretzel, head smashed up, cyl was banged up. Nothing good came of this, haha.

Still don't really know what happened. Was cruising on the HWY at around 4200rpm for about 15 - 20 minutes. Was running great, then it blew.

Havn't sprayed Nitrous this year (probably been almost 1000km since I last used it).

A buddy at work recons the last nitrous shot most likely cracked a piston and it held up until now, but it really had been run great right up until it blew up.

Going to pick up another motor this weekend and rip it apart for a rebuild. Wish I had more money for pistons and a cam, but I'll have to go with refreshed OEM (with an MLS gasket this time and studs) this time around. Got a wedding to save up for.

Anyways, just wanted to share the pics

All that's left of the piston. The rest must be hanging out in the sump , presumably where the rest of the exhaust valve is
