    Exhaust...ing.

    Looking at some different options for what to when my cheapo aftermarket OEM exhaust (Bosal) inevitably rusts out. I know for sure I want a catalytic converter, because I find the odor of a straight system obnoxious, and my conscience gets in the way.

    At present, I'm considering running a Magnaflow 23554 Downpipe/cat, into a straight pipe out the back.

    I've thought about also installing headers, as one of the studs on my OE manifold is snapped off and actually a (rather annoying to deal with) bolt.

    I'm not looking for any performance gains, just noise. Specifically, high end, rasping buzzy noise, ala this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UzSn...nel=fenivision

    Of course I see he's running nothing at all, but I'm curious if running just a cat will produce anything like that?
    I wash BMWs all day at a dealership. Do you have any idea how much i8's suck to do anything but look at?

    You can always paint your current exhaust to make it last longer. All you need is a wire wheel to grind the rust off, and some POR metal surface prep and metal etch and a few cans of BBQ paint or High Temp paint. Total cost is under 100$.

      I have long tube headers, dual cats and a stromung muffler

      it's pretty quiet and no rasp.

        My wording was bad I guess. I *love* that ripsaw, buzzing scream at the top end. It makes the car sound alive and wild, I think. All my favorite engine notes (mostly race cars) are like that.
