    e30 325i getrag 260 in e28?

I pulled a getrag 260.0.1346.90 from an 87 325i yesterday and i was wondering if anyone knew if i could run this in my 88 528e m20? everything ive found on the e28 side says as long as the throwout bearing and clutch and flywheel are matched i should be good, but i heard theres some difference in the e30 version of the m20 getrag 260. can anyone confirm or deny this please? tia

You should be good, Just match your throwout bearing. I am doing the oppoisite of what you are doing. A 83 528E Getrag 260 into a 89 325I. I checked each part on RealOEM for compatibility. I was amazed at the amount that were the same for both cars. Even the Pedals. They just use a different Pedal Box. One thing to watch for is the Motronic sensor location. I know both my 89 325I Automatics have the holes for the Flywheel sensors even though it uses the front CPS, which I believe your 88 has also.

Drive Shafts are different lengths, E28 Longer than E30. I will measure each and get back to you. I thought one half of it was the same though.

The e30 and E28 are totally different. The problem I ran into today after I got the E28 Drive Shaft out is it is a Large Guibo and the E30 Drive Shat is a Small Guibo. Hopefully I can swap the Output Flange on the Transmission.

I know some of the transmissions use the large guibo and some use the small. Ive read that the output flange is interchangeable tho. Pls keep me informed of ur progress and hiccups if u dont mind. Im gonna have to fig out something as i have a trans w smaller guibo, i think! Thanks man

What size wrench fits the Guibo bolts? 19MM=Large, 17MM=Small

                Small...

                Large...

I have a Large Guibo Drive Shaft from my E28 (That I will not need) So I will either need a Large Guibo E30 Drive Shaft OR a Small Guibo Output Flange.
