I'm sure I'll get flamed, but I've learned to always make sure of something even if it seems obvious. Here goes...
Recently picked up my first e30, a 1986 es. I noticed a looping idle and it did not have the low end torque that these motors are known for. In fact it doesnt do much until about 3k all the way to 5.3k (must have a chip already). So I checked plugs, ICV, AFM, then I noticed fuel pooling on top of the fuel filter (this model has a lateral filter in the engine bay). I also notice that the direction arrow was point down (line toward the tank) instead of up to the fuel rail. I can only assume this is incorrect and the cause of my issues?
Can I just replace with the correct filter from a big box store (Autozone)?
Thanks in advance.
