Bored by my unenthusiastic chipped m20b27... local guy has a refreshed m20b25 with arp hardware and an mls head gasket. Was redone in April of this year and has been on a trip to North Carolina and three drift events. He is willing to sell me just the motor with everything needed to put it into my car for 1,000. He is putting a 24v motor in his car this year. He and his partner work on many old school bmws and offered to pull my motor and transmission out, put my transmission on the m20b25 and put it back into the car. Turn key 100% for 500 bucks. This would put me at 1500 before buying a clutch kit, or any other modifications and upgrades I’d want to do while the engine is out (shifter rebuild, motor/trans mounts, others??). This will easily set me back ~2,000 all said and done for a really well sorted I swapped 325e. My questions, is the extra power noticeable? I want a responsive engine that’ll be fun on backroads. What other upgrades can I do that are easier with the engine out? Is it worth the money spent to still have a 2.93 in the back? Would I benefit from a full suspension refresh instead? (My car has the Bilstein st combo, bushings are old but not worn and car drives very smooth) thanks for your inputs.
