    Intake Manifold Differences Question

    Hello All,

I've tried searching for a thread with with this information but have come up short. I could not really make sense out of the information that is in fact out there, so hopefully someone can help me out.

I recently came across some info that I would like verified. I was told that BMW had three different size intake manifolds for our e30s. Each manifold has its own castings. The different intake manifolds are identified by the cross hatch patterns (casting marks) on them on the inside above the ports.

Can someone please help with the following:

    1. Is what i mention above true and accurate?
    2. What are differences in the intake manifold sizes?
    3. What are the differences in the cross hatch patterns and can someone post pictures with a side by side comparison?
    3. Which manifold gives the most/best air intake to an 885 head (stock config) for an 87 325is?

I really appreciate the help in advance!
