Greetings all,
My 325is has developed a problem in which it starts and idles fine, but once it has been driven a bit the rpms suddenly surge and then fall off. It will die unless I unload the engine and give it gas. The problem is hard to diagnose for me since it does not do this all the time. The situation seems a bit dire for the car/engine.
Back ground-- I have owned this car for 18 years, regular routine maintenance, etc. I suppose over that period a true bimmerhead would have replaced each hose by now, but I have not. I pulled the head and had the valves, rockers, etc. done at a good shop in Indy and put in a new timing belt re-done about 5 years ago.
My guess is some temperature controlled air flow or emissions system. The hoses look good and are tight, but there are a lot of them.
Does anyone have a suggestion where to look first?
Thanks for reading this and double thanks for any suggestions!
Ron
