My 90’s 325i m20b25 sounds like a lawn mower

Iv change distributor cap - plug wires - plugs and made sure everything was on properly inside bay but still moves and sounds like a lawn lower don’t know what’s going on or what els to look at

Define lawnmower and what's making the sound? Your exhaust or the actual engine?

I'm with AK-, is the sound coming from the exhaust (exhaust leak), or the engine itself? Have you adjusted the valves? Compression test?
