    Firewall switch?

    Anyone know what the little switch/sensor does thats mounted on the firewall next to the battery terminal does? 86 325es.

    i would also like to know, my 318i has it(nothing connected) my 325e has it(was connected) and my parts 325i never had one

              It's only on eta and 318i models that had the seperate idle control module. It's an air temperature switch that closes below 32 F I assume as it feeds directly to the idle module that it changes the idle speed when it's real cold outside. The Green/yellow wire going to it should be a switched 12 volt source
