I have been having some issues with my cooling system. I have to replace the two vacuum hoses that attach to the throtle body and also the gasket for the piece where they attach with the two nipples. After I completed this process my coolant stopped leaking but once I was driving and tried to open up the car the bottom hose where it attaches in the area I circled in the above diagram blew out and coolant was pouring everywhere. I look at the nipple elbow that blew out and it dosen't seem to screw in at all it just slides into the hole. I feel like there should be something to hold the elbow in since the entire system is under pressure. Could it also have blown out because there was too much air in my system? Maybe I didn't bleed the air out enough? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

I have gotten the car running. I bled the system and everything seems to be working fine. However, that elbow is still dripping coolant a little bit and I'm nervous that if I get into the car at all it will blow out again. Anybody ever JB weld that elbow into place? Ideas??sigpic -
You put a hose clamp on it right?

It's not dripping from the hoseclamp that area is all tight. It's leaking from where the elbow inserts into the thermostat. Is there a retaining clip or something I'm missing?sigpicComment

Like the housing itself is leaking?

On the bottom of the thermostat housing there is an elbow that is inserted into it. The elbow has a hose that connects to the side of the throttle body to carry coolant so it dosen't freeze in cold weather. The elbow is not threded it is just a smooth surface that slides into the hole in the bottom of the thermostat. Because there is no way to fasten or secure this elbow in place the pressure in the system is blowing the elbow out of the hole and causing a leak.sigpicComment

make sure all the bolts are tightened down. Once I replaced a water pump on the car and as I removed timing belt and accesories to get to water pump, first attempt on waterpump bolt I noticed that the screw was loose. it wasn't even fingertight... so plz eliminate it.It is absolutely crucial to pinpoint location of the leak.Comment
