so i just did the m30 afm/19 lb injectors mod...

i had the injectors cleaned, flow tested, and all o-rings/caps replaced. the m30 afm was an 027, direct plug in. the car responds much better, better throttle response, pulls harder under 1/2 throttle or so... but when i get on it, it doesnt seem to rip as hard as it used to.

what gives? i think im going to plug it into a wideband (if i can get my hands on one) and make sure im not running too rich/lean. anyone have similar issues in the past?

    btw the car is a 90 325is with a S-ETA bottem end, i head, 3.73 lsd

    TIA

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that you're introducing more air and fuel than the car can handle? After all your engine is not exactly modded.

On the other hand, perhaps the AFM should be adjusted a click or two. Why don't you try and see?

Its likley that you didn't install an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. The car has lots of air but not enough fuel for the mix(lean). I believe you need to bump the FP up to 3.5-4.0bar? Also an air/fuel ratio guage would help lots.

      Hope this helps http://www.davelength.net/car/bigsix.html

you didnt mention anything about a chip? Try emailing mark dsylva of E.A.T. ultra chips. He doesnt list all of the chips he can do on his site, so jsut email him about it.

If you don't have a chip, get one!

I opted to go with 17.5lb M50 injectors to go with my M30 AFM since I am totally stock. I should be installing that stuff this weekend so we'll see how it does.

ok, so. it runs awesome now. pulls hard. idles super smooth. much better throttle response, but there is one problem. when i give it wot, like wot --> shift hard --> wot again, the car bucks. its like i hit a brick wall. then instantly it will catch itself, and keep going from where it started.

i dont get it. im buying an a/f gauge soon. ive been getting pretty good gas mileage, which kinda scares me. maybe im running too lean?

                any suggestions?

Suggestion: If you feel that your car maybe running lean, open up the AFM (if you dare) and loosen the spring one click. That will give you a little more fuel across the rev range. If the car drives better, adjust it another click. If it gets worse, go tighter instead.

re: the bucking, the AFM may be sticking. clean it well with some carb+choke cleaner.

FWIW I have the 027afm, 19#ers, and the markD chip designed for 'em. Lots of fun :)

That's EXACTLY what's happening in my car, except with stock AFM anf 17.5#er's.

Let me know if cleaning out the AFM works. :D
