    rough idle

hey guys my car has a bad idle but not all the time its kinda rough always but sometimes it feels like its about to die and then kinda revs back up it stays at about 800 then will jump to 1300 maybe then back to 1000 or 800. does this mean my timing is off? can i fix the thottle cable to help smooth it out thats what i heard you can do?i hope this is all making sense.
    thanks for any help

There are a number of things than can result in a rough or unstable idle. To start with I'd suggest cleaning and verifying the operation of the ICV and carefully examining the entire intake for leaks. And of course you'd want to make sure that the plugs, wires, rotor and distributor are good and that the valves are correctly adjusted. If original you probably also need a new O2 sensor.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I don't mean to be a jerk, but did you try reading the 2-3 other posts below about idle issues?
