Does the i oil cooler have a built in thermostat?

I have an oil cooler. It has a spring inside the housing either for pressure or it's a thermostat.
    Anyone happen to know?
I've done a search and can't find this info. Thanks for any help.

Sorry to revive old thread, but is there a way to jam it open, so that oil cooler is ON all the time ?
since i put a turbo on, oil temp gets high very quick.

To convert the oil cooler to full time operation, swap the position of the thermostat and spring in the oil filter adapter.
