intermediate shaft? (replacing timing belt and front seal)

    #10 in the above picture

This was not rotating when I first pulled off the timing belt. Then I pulled out a 10mm bolt located directly above the crank seal, and now the intermediate shaft pulley turns. What is this connected to? Do I need to get it clocked back where it was?

Second, any recommendations how to pry out the front seal with the lower timing cover on? #1:

Or should I just pry that cover off, taking the seal with it?

ha! strike that. I pulled the cover off (which does make it waay easier to replace the seal) and it turns out my nasty oil leak is not my front seal: there currently is no lower timing belt cover gasket. PO was a douchebag i guess.
