is the S ETA cam a 7 bearing cam, or a 5 like the other crappy ETAS?

    I am 90% sure it's a 7, due to it using an 885 cyl head (325i head).

Since there has been much talk about having to drill the oil passages for an i cam in a SETA motor, I will bet 5.

My understanding is it uses all 7 .
Only differs from a "i" head by having a different cam profile and single valve springs .

I've got one but its on the back burner and I haven't messed with it yet .
Thats the best I can offer up .

the cam is 5 but head is 7
you have to drill oil passages for use of an i cam

yet i know nothing first hand, this is only from the talk around the boards and pictures ive seen.

yet ive also mated an i head to an eta block with no cooling or lube port matching problems - others have stated how you have to drill stuff out for that to work. Everything you see on the internet is hearsay until youve done it yourself.

well, cause it took so ong for someone to answer!!!(j/k)
I took the valve cover off--damn I was lazy.

so to answer the question, the S eta cam is a 7 bearing cam.
the regulat ETA is a 5 bearing, and if you use that head, with an i cam, you need to drill it out.

guess my weekend project will be putting double valve springs and a used i cam in the "alpina" vert.

Super eta uses the 7 bearing camshaft but with Eta valve timing. Regular eta has 4 main bearings.

There were two super eta heads an early and a later one.
The earlier head has 5 bearings with holes drilled and a 5 bearing cam(I think a regular eta cam), it is easy to spot these as the raised circle on the side of the head that should have 2.5 2.7 stamped on it will be blank.

                    WTF are you smoking ???

I'm so tired of all these new uninformed d-baggs nowadays claiming this and that about the damned SuperEta .

Every little baggypants douchebagg that ends up with a lowly Eta is always hoping that "hey it might be a SUPER-ETA" !!!
No motherfucker its just a regular crap Eta ...and the highly touted and revered SuperEta is not much of an improvent in power .

Almost as bad as every other douchebagg e36 owner on Bf.c claiming that their particular car is a "factory freak" and makes ungodly (and unverified) power numbers .

                    STFU already !!

Hey Dick Fuck I have an 885 head that was not tapped to run a 7 bearing cam only 4 of the bearing journals had oil passages in them also there is no number stamped on it.
It was a replacement head on the car when I got it and it killed a 7 bearing racing dynamics cam due to obvious oiling issues
So if You are an little baggypants douchebagg get your shit straight and shut the fuck up..
                      Fucking Jordan complexes around here:hitler:
