    Testing Crank Position Sensor

Ok gents, another problem on my hands.
For background, I just put everything back together, cyl head and gasket, timing belt, new distributor and wires.

The engine cranks, but no spark and i didnt here the fuel pump run. So I think the CPS is fucked but is there a way to test the POS, ie resistance value range, voltage, etc.? I want to be sure that it's the problem, b/c i'd hate to spend $$ on a part that doesnt need changing.

Another possiblity, but not likely. The CPS and current sensor (from ignition wires) wires come from the pass. side of engine, around the front above the water pump and back under the wiring harness rail on the driv. side of engine. The male plugs connect to the female counterparts on this harness rail. Is it possible (b/c i didnt label) that i could have cross connected the 2 plugs? I put the shorter (CPS) to the forward most connection, and the longer (ignition current sensor) to the after most connection. If this is wrong, it could be, let me know. Then I have to somehow lengthen the CPS wiring to reach further back!

TIA for any input, advice, consultaion, as usual.

you will receive an ac signal an o-scope would be your best choice but not all of us are so fortunate you should be able to put a multimeter and see a signal
