    Engine Swap

So I've got quite the project planned and I was wondering if anyone familiar with CA smog laws could help out.

I have a wrecked 1986 325es with a perfectly intact engine/transmission, my room mate has a 1985 Mercedes 190e with a trashed engine. If I were to combine the two into some ungodly German conglomeration, is there any way to make it smog legal?

It could be done, sure, but it would also be harder than hell. I doubt anyone has ever done a write-up on such a thing. All of the electronics, motor mounts, hoses, etc. It would be a HUGE undertaking. Cheaper and easier to get a 190e engine from the wreckers and drop it in.

In my opinion it's hardly worth the time and money to put said engine in said car.
