Not all auto's were 4.10's I know that 87-89 had 3.73lsd's.

-Nope. Only '87 325i autos had a 3.73 (lsd option). 88+ autos have 4.10, also with LSD as an option.

Then it sounds like all "is" cars came with LSD, either in 3.73 or 4.10, "i" cars may or may not have LSD and came in either 3.73 or 4.10.
