    1990 M20B25 to a 1987 325es

The engine in my 325es, the 2.7L eta is slowly dying, so many oil leaks I can just shit my pants. Needs a new engine badly, currently have a lead on another M20: a 1990 M20B25 from a 1990 325is.

I know that B27 to B25 conversions are relatively easy when you are working with cars and engines in the plus or minus one year range (electronics are pretty much the same, or at least the set-up is). But this is from a 1990 325is going into a 1987 325es.

Where can I turn to for more information on this particular swap (difference in years)?????

Please help me. My E30 will die soon.

    thanks

I'm almost positive it's a direct swap in to your car using the engine wiring harness from an 87 325iS.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

        direct swap

in the us all etas last year are made in 1987 non were ever made in 1988. the "super eta" with i head are only the last three or four month of production in 1987. Even earlier month cars sold as 1988 models made for early 1987 use the old block and head, it wasnt until the last couple month of production were they the i head. . Those are the only one with the direct drop. If your car was a 1987 it can very well even be made in 1986 if it was release early 1987. You will have to swap the engine, the harness, head, ecu, etc.

I think you will have to use the water pump housing from your eta, or something like that.

You'll need to reroute a few radiator hoses since the expansion tank is on the other side. You'll have to getty rig something to mount it to as well.
