Rough Running M20 after Valve adjustment

    Hello

I hope that we can fix this problem because its really pissing me off

i have a 1990 325i, the unleaded model. Every time i adjust the valves to the correct adjustment the engine runs real rough at idle. i have tried both 0.25m when cold and 0.30 when worm.

when the valves are loose the engine run well at idle but its ticking its head off. Im pritty skilled at working on m20s as i have done lots of work on them on the past and have adjusted many other m20s in the past, but its just this one that is giving me problems.

the engine now has a new cam and i have had a couple of valves and rockers changed as well, (i have takin the head off and rebuilt it) and still the same problem.

i think it might have something to do with the ecu or afm or o2. I have changed the o2 and the afm seems good. the ecu is the 172 type.

any question you would like to ask, please do.

I would love to fix this problem as it is a very good e30 other than that problem.

    Thanks
    Michael

Have you done a through check for intake leaks?
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

How sure are you of the TDC marks?

im sure, it was doing it before i took the head off. when i put it back on, i really took note of that

produce a video or sound clip so we can hear this idle... sounds like youre set on mechanical. could be ignition or fuel issue.

              I have a similar problem on my 88 325E.
The valves or lifters are ticking the head. I added some STP to the block and some Lucas Fuel Injector cleaner to the gas tank and it quite it down some.

I'm interested to see how you block comes along, as I want to also adjust my block.

Ever fix it? Was it flat spotted eccentrics?
