Hello-
As some already know, I'm about to do my first complete engine swap.
MY car:
1987 325es (prod. date is July 25, 1986)
M20B27, HECK tranny
2.93:1 diff.
No current mods
SWAP engine:
from-1990 325is (unknown prod. date)
M20B25, had GETRAG 260 box
3.73:1 diff.
Stock
Pretty straight forward.
I had a few questions about a variety of things involving the swap. I know that R3V is where I want to get my info about this:
1. Is there an ETM for a 1986 eta? Or is it just "325"(all 86 E30s the same)?
2. Do I have to use the water pump from my eta in the swap?
3. Will the M20B25 from '90 work with my HECK box from 86?
4. Do I need an "i" exhaust setup, or will the eta exhaust do for awhile/will the exhaust manifold from the "i" hook up with the eta pipes?
5. Has anyone done this swap in specific??
I've read the technical report in strictlyeta.net on the swap of an M20B25 from a 1987 into an '86 eta, but I feel that mine is a little different based on the wider gap in years.
I've got everything I need from the "new" engine: ECU, harness, manifolds, PS pump, oil cooler, all sensors, injectors, ICV, etc etc.
I know that the obvious and biggest issue I will face will be the "electrical everything," but I'm about ready to dish out cash for the right answers.
Anyone want an old eta engine w/ a major oil leak and about 300k? ;)
thanks
