hey guys i was just wondering how big the opening on the afm adapter is? my cousin gave me a new k&n cone filter that he bought for his mustang but the hole in the filter is 3" is this too big if so by how much?

I'm guessing you don't have the AFM "adapter" yet ?
Our AFM's don't have a lip or flange on them .......so these aftermarket adapters are needed that provide a lip so an aftermarket cone filter or hose can be attached directly to the AFM .
Just get a 3" adapter , or the biggest you can find on eBay and then get/make a coupler for your hand-me-down filter . -
I have a BMP cone filter adapter and a bracket for the AFM if you're interested.Comment

thanks guys i just picked up a "universal" 3" afm adapter from kragen and i was able to mount the filter on it, i just need to take off the airbox to see what has to be done to the adapter to mount it. i'm sure the mounting holes wont be in the right place.Comment
