My e30 Keeps BUCKING! PLEASE HELP!

Okay so heres the deal. Ive had this problem for about two to three months. When im driving it runs fine and then out of no where it will buck, a loss of power or something. its as if a spark plug is shot or something. Ive change the spark plugs twice. i changed the wires. I cleaned my throttle body checked for vaccuum leaks, bought a new battery a new alternator and i still dont know whats wrong with it. PLEASE ANYONE!! can you help me!! ive tried and asked everyone and know one knows. i was told it MIGHT be the ignition coil but i rather be sure than spend more money on something that wont even fix it. I cant afford it. PLEASE HELP!!!!

TPS going haywire? Maybe recalibrate the AFM? Might even be the crank reference sensor...all just speculation of course.

There's a number of possible causes of that, including:

        1) A flaky crank position sensor
        2) A bad connection at the C191 connector (feedss the fuel injectors)
        3) A bad FPR or failing fuel pump
        4) Flaky main or fuel pump relay
        5) Bad ground or power connections

Since it is an intermittent problem, figuring out which is a matter of eliminating possibilities.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

while were on the topic, my car bucks at around 1300-1600 rpm if i let off the throttle. it wouldn't let me just hold 1400 rpm or it will buck. i have to be decelerating or accelerating for it to be smooth.

J levie how do i go about fixing these problems or test them at least. im running low on cash so testing and checking would be a lot better than getting new everything

I had a simular symptom but on a ODBII car. After changing coil packs, wires, and dealer changed the plugs. It ended up being a single bad plug even though it was brand new. Luckly the ODB showed which cylinder was misfiring and the misfire followed the plug when i moved them around. my gut said to check the plugs but I reassured myself that they must be ok. They weren't. Run a spark test on your plugs and see if any might have a weak spark.

x2 on this .....it has to be spark related

Unfortunately, since the youngest E30 is 17 years old, and since a problem like this may be the result of a number of contributing factors, you may wind up replacing quite a bit of stuff before getting to the point of actually being able to solve the problem. Age does take its toll and a general refresh of things related to the intake, fuel, and engine management system may be required.

Most things can be tested, but with an intermittent problem the test will be meaningless if the fault isn't present when the test is run.

my car would do similar things, would star bucking like it was running out gas, and then fire up, the engine light would come on, etc etc. turned out it was a bad ecu, and the car was basically running lean and shutting down. replacement ecu solved the issue straight out. might not be the same issue. definitely worth a try. And if its not the ecu, dont worry, at some point it will go bad :)
