    Fuel injectors

how hard is it to change fuel injectors in a 1989 325i, my car is having hard starts while warm, so i figured injectors. is is possible to take them out without removing valve cover or intake manifold( i have pretty skinny fingures)? pelican articles doesn't say i have to but other websites say you MUST remove the valve cover..is this true?

i think you can get to them fine if you take off the intake support bracket. it may be easier to do it with the valve cover off too though. not much room in there so it may take a while

Are 19lb injectors too big(only injectors i could buy)? I have IE catback exhaust, catco high flow cat, K&N cone filter with heat shield, performance chip,MSD coil and ballast resistor, IE 8mm ignition wires, new spark plugs. i will keep on upgrading as money becomes available, last time i pulled my plugs they looked like the car was running a little lean.

you probably shouldnt even be messing with the injectors if you really dont know anything about the fuel system.

read, you can learn alot.-- and i am really not trying to be an a**

I have 19lb mustang injectors, you won't notice a big difference over stock unless you are running a cam too. They work just fine though!

thanks that exactly what i wanted to hear. i wasn't expecting a difference over stock but if there was one than i would be happy.

yah, the car will adjust to the size of the injectors. it'll know if its running too rich/lean.

the installation takes only 15 min, i noticed a small hwy mpg increase when i put in the 4 pintle injectors. good luck, you came to the right place

That's true only if the O2 sensor is good, which in general means it has no more than 100kmi on it.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

my o2 sensor is less than 5000mi old

Funny, when I ran 19lbs on my old car it ran noticeably richer even after driving it a lot(giving ecu time to 'learn'). When I put 14.5s back in, I was able to pass emissions, and there was much less gas smell. I even had a new o2 sensor, along with all new fuel/ignition components.

I remember reading that mototronic isn't advanced enough to map the best A/F ratio by itself when you drastically change injectors. Due to my experience, I'm a believer of that.

You should get a chip(19lb specific) for the best results. Try doing a search for the guys running m30 maf and 19lb injectors on a stock ecu.

19 lbs injectors are fine and yes you can take them out with out removing the manifold

okay so cleaning airfilter,ICV( lots of brown came out), and AFM helped alot but its still not running at 100%, but i still have to change the fuel injectors, distributor cap/rotor, and coolant temp sensor.
