    Need help with engine flooding

This started yesterday. I would be driving down street and then the check engine light would flash on and then go off and it would seem that the car would loose power. When stopped, the engine would idle rough and when the gas was pushed, it would bog down and sometimes die. You can smell the rich gas in exhaust fumes when started.

The car started and ran high on idle and then settled down (check engine light turns off). It ran fine for the rest of the day. This AM, it started fine, ran fine out of the neighborhood, and then stalled out at the light about 2 miles from house. I got it started and it ran like crap for a minute and then ran fine. It makes me nervous that it would just die when you gas it from stop( I hate to roll a little and stall in intersection):)

I have replaced fuel pump in the last 6 months and filter at that time-along with plugs, wires, rotor, etc. What do you think is the problem? AFM?

    Thanks!

Could be a lot of things, but you should probably start cheap. Probably the Fuel pressure regulator, faulty injectors, or coolant temp sensor, or o2. If the car thinks it's cold, then it will dump more fuel than it needs. You could try swapping in a good AFM and see if that helps as well.

Use a Bently to find the testing methods, although you might want to replace them anyway if your car has high miles and few records.

It seems to be the AFM. I tapped on it and it seemed to even out the idle. I have one off ebay coming to check if it helps. You can hear a delay when you hit the throttle and when the AFM opens. Where is the fuel pressure regulator located?

That delay is pretty common. Don't worry about it too much.

FPR is on the end of the fuel rail, at the front. Fuel line goes in one side, vacumm line from intake man. on the other side.
