ok so yeterday i was driving my car and the engine light check comes on , whene i went back home i changed the oil and now the check engine oil is off, after i changed the oil my pressure light come on, the one in the dashboard, so what should i do?? maybe i put more oil than the requierd.

On the assumption that a dipstick check shows normal oil level and you used the correct weight oil, the first thing I'd try would be an OE filter if you used a generic. If that doesn't turn off the oil pressure light the next thing to do is to temporarily replace the oil pressure switch with a gauge and see what the idle oil pressure is. The OE switch trips at 5-7psi and at idle on a cold engine you should have way more pressure than that, say 30psi or more. On a hot engine in decent condition 15psi or more would be normal. If pressures are normal the switch is bad. But if you ran the car for any length of time low on oil the bottom end bearings could be damaged and there may not be normal oil pressure.The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

the dash light does not have shit to do with oil level that is an oil pressure light, it could be the switch is bad or you could have a bad oil pump, clogged lines, clogged filter, clogged pumpYour signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

You can change just the filter, that's fine. The oil pressure switch is located on the bottom side of the block below the oil filter.Comment

this happened to me last week while driving on the highway at night the oil light went on i check the oil it was good and full sound of the engine was normal too it the at the end i shaked the sensor wire the light went off i go on with driving after i was so scared of the oil light going on.try to do as i did the problem is from the sensor wire.if the pump you hear a strange sounds from the engine.Comment
