thats very true, unless like you said you know somethings wrong with the engine. i got a free m50 out of my friends wrecked e36 and its just been sitting here forever because i started to rebuild it "since it was out" because it had 150,000 miles on it, i wouldve been better off just going for the swap as it was.
also for anyone interested in how much an m20 stroker would cost, i did mine for probably around 1000 bucks. its hard to say because i didnt spend all that money at once, or really keep good track of it. i started with my eta engine, got ahold of a super eta engine, and split the cost of an e30 325i parts car with a friend who needed some other things. between mine, the super eta, and the 325i, i had all the parts and then some. the stroker is an awesome idea if youre trying to keep the price low.
