car isnt starting..

    car isnt starting..

    so ive finished with my whole project for summer; replacing rocker arms, replacing timing belt and water pump, new belts, brackets, etc. etc.

    and today was the day to hope for the best after my car has been sitting for almost two years without running. and what happens? i try to start the car and the engine starts cranking, i give a little gas, and nothing. i dont hear the sound of an e30 running. its a very sad day for me:dot:
    lol so i need some help as to why my car isnt starting..any suggestions??

    btw ive already checked for spark and fuel. im thinking it has to be something electrical..

        First double check the cam timing. Then make sure that you didn't cross the cylinder ID and CPS connectors.
        The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

          Did you check fuel pressure, of for the injectors firing? Both? You should be able to do a compression test (wet test works better on a cold engine) to help get an idea if the TB is at least close.

            nvm got it fixed, the timing was off on the distributor so it runs now! woot

              When he says the timing was off on the distributor, does he mean the wires were mixed up on the distributor, or something else?

                Since there no timing adjustment on an M20, I'd guess that he meant that the ignition wires weren't in the correct holes in the distributor cap. But if the cam timing was off, the distributor would also be off. Maybe gtdragon980 will see this and clarify what the error was.

                  oh lol sorry yeah it was the cam timing that was off somehow, so it would fire in the wrong cylinders..luckily nothing was damaged so its all in working condition
